Cardio-
Cardiovascular exercise is movement that stimulates the circulatory and respiratory functions of the body and increases oxygen intake such as running, jumping, walking, lifting weights, and any form of exercise that increases your heart rate. Cardio has many benefits, such as burning fat, strengthening the heart and lungs, building bone mass and increasing muscle tone. To achieve health and fitness, many health professionals advise people to commit to at least 30 minutes a day at a minimum of three times a week.
Resistance-
Resistance training is as very important factor in weight loss and overall health. It is working your muscles against some sort of resistance. This includes body weight exercises like push ups, sit ups and squats as well as other forms of resistance training using dumbbells. A common misconception, especially among women, is that weight training will make you look big and bulky. While it's true that weight training is a necessity for bodybuilders, it's pretty much a myth that lifting dumbbells and barbells will translate into getting huge. Regular resistance training may boost your metabolic rate up to 15%. A higher metabolism means more calories burned, making it easier to lose weight. Resistance training keeps your bones strong which decreases the risk of osteoporosis and fractures. It also strengthens joints which reduces your risk of injury during everyday activity. Lastly, it creates muscle, which takes up less space than fat, making your body look toned and strong! Who doesn't want that! :) So if you haven't picked up weights in years, now is the time! You will be amazed at how it changes your body and makes you feel strong and confident!
Nutrition-
Diets don't work! It is all about portion control and balance. It has to be a way of life, not a quick way to lose weight. When you think "diet" you think sacrifice and restriction with an end in mind. Why do this to yourself? You can eat whatever you want in moderation if you are practicing all four factors. I can give you tips and examples on what to eat before and after a workout. Once you start a fitness program it is important to make the right choices to keep your body strong and fueled for your workouts. I eat all day! If you never let yourself get hungry you will start to eat better and make better choices. You have to eat to increase your metabolism and lose weight and I am here to guide you and help you make the right choices.
Recovery-
This is also a very crucial factor which is sometimes neglected. During exercise our muscle tissue breaks down and our bodies get temporarily weaker. Its' during rest that we recover and make our gains. If your body does not have a recovery time you are prone to muscle tears, joint pain, fatigue, and weakening of the immune system. So taking one to two days off (depending on the intensity of your workouts) to let your muscles repair is pretty important. Nutrition is also important to the recovery process. I can teach you to recover properly.
So there you have it! These four factors are your keys to success! No more diet books, no more magic pills and no more going to the gym without a plan. A life long journey starts with the first step so take the first step and contact me today.
